| old_age_disability_death_bahraini | التأمين ضد الشيخوخة والعجز والوفاة — للبحرينيين فقط / Insurance against old age, disability and death — BAHRAINI NATIONALS ONLY | 21 | 7 | 14 | percent | The insured person's monthly wage. APPLIES ONLY TO BAHRAINI NATIONALS — an expatriate private-sector employee is not in this branch at all and neither the employee nor the employer pays anything under it. GCC nationals working in Bahrain are covered instead under the Unified Regulation for extending insurance protection to GCC nationals working outside their own State (approved by Law No. 68 of 2006), which routes their contributions to their home scheme. | BHD |
| THE 11% IN THE LAW IS THE BASE FIGURE, NOT THE CURRENT ONE. The employer's share is rising by a point a year and is 14% in this branch for 2026. THE EMPLOYEE'S 7% HAS NOT MOVED and is not scheduled to: the entire increase falls on the employer. Read the employer figure together… | |||||||
| employment_injury | التأمين ضد إصابات العمل / Insurance against employment injuries — employer only, and it DOES cover expatriates | 3 | 0 | 3 | percent | The monthly wages of the employer's workers. Applies to Bahraini AND non-Bahraini private-sector employees alike — this is the branch that brings an expatriate worker inside the Social Insurance Law at all. | BHD |
| THE ONLY CONTRIBUTORY BRANCH THAT REACHES EXPATRIATES IN FULL, AND THE HINGE OF THE WHOLE BAHRAINI SYSTEM. Because a non-Bahraini worker is "covered by the provisions of the insurance against Employment Injuries Branch", that coverage is what defines who falls inside the… | |||||||
| unemployment_bahraini | التأمين ضد التعطل — للبحرينيين / Insurance against unemployment — Bahraini nationals | 2 | 1 | 1 | percent | The insured person's monthly wage. A third 1% is paid by the Government on top of the two shares shown, so the branch is funded at 3% in total but only 2 points fall on the payroll. | BHD |
| THE ONLY MATCHED BRANCH IN THE BAHRAINI SCHEME — 1% each side — and the only one with a third statutory payer. Bahrain was the first Gulf state to run a genuine contributory unemployment insurance. Note that the employee's 1% reaches expatriates while the employer's 1% does not… | |||||||
| unemployment_non_bahraini | التأمين ضد التعطل — لغير البحرينيين / Insurance against unemployment — expatriate employees, employee share only | 1 | 1 | 0 | percent | The expatriate employee's monthly wage. The employer's 1% and the Government's 1% do not apply in respect of a non-Bahraini employee. | BHD |
| SERVED SEPARATELY BECAUSE THE EXPATRIATE'S POSITION IS NOT THE BAHRAINI'S. An expatriate private-sector employee in Bahrain has exactly ONE payslip deduction — this 1% — and it is the whole of what leaves their pay. Their employer pays 3% employment injury plus the… | |||||||
| eosb_non_bahraini_first_three_years | مكافأة نهاية الخدمة لغير البحرينيين — السنوات الثلاث الأولى / End-of-service remuneration for non-Bahrainis, first three years — employer only | 4.2 | 0 | 4.2 | percent | "Wage" as defined in the Regulation: "The amount specified in the contract of employment payable periodically to the worker, in addition to any increases and social allowance, if any." Payable monthly to the Social Insurance Organization for the first three years counted from the date the insured person commenced employment with that employer. | BHD |
| BAHRAIN HAS CONVERTED THE EXPATRIATE END-OF-SERVICE GRATUITY FROM A BALANCE-SHEET ACCRUAL INTO A MONTHLY CASH CONTRIBUTION. Since 1 March 2024 the employer no longer pays a lump sum on termination out of its own funds; it pays SIO every month, and SIO pays the worker at the end… | |||||||
| eosb_non_bahraini_after_three_years | مكافأة نهاية الخدمة لغير البحرينيين — بعد ثلاث سنوات / End-of-service remuneration for non-Bahrainis, fourth year onwards — employer only | 8.4 | 0 | 8.4 | percent | The same contractual wage plus increases and social allowance, for every year of service after the first three, until the end of service. | BHD |
| THE STEP-UP IS BY LENGTH OF SERVICE WITH THAT EMPLOYER, NOT BY CALENDAR DATE, AND ARTICLE 13 BACKDATES IT. An expatriate who already had more than three years' service with the employer on 1 March 2024 went straight onto 8.4% — there was no fresh three-year clock. A payroll… | |||||||

What makes this different
Every value above names the official instrument it came from and the date it takes effect, and we record when we last checked it. Where a value could not be verified against its own statute we do not publish an estimate — the series is simply absent. Where a question falls outside what we hold, the API refuses and explains, free of charge, rather than returning a number that looks right.
