What this value means
SINGLE NATIONAL RATE - Malaysia is not a matrix jurisdiction: since 1 May 2022 one rate applies across all states, both Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah/Sarawak/Labuan, with no regional or sectoral schedules. RM1,700.00 per month. The Order also fixes equivalents that engines should not derive by division: RM8.72 per HOUR, and daily rates that vary with the working week - RM65.38/day for a 6-day week, RM78.46/day for a 5-day week, RM98.08/day for a 4-day week (para 3(1)/5(1)). Employees paid solely by piece rate, tonnage, task, trip or commission must receive at least RM1,700 per month (paras 3(2), 5(2)). PHASE-IN NOW COMPLETE: para 3 brought RM1,700 into force on 1 February 2025 for employers with FIVE OR MORE employees and, regardless of headcount, for employers carrying on a professional activity classified under MASCO (Malaysia Standard Classification of Occupations) as published by the Ministry of Human Resources. Para 4 gave employers with FEWER THAN FIVE employees (other than MASCO employers) a transitional RM1,500/month (RM7.21/hour) for 1 February 2025 to 31 July 2025 only. Para 5 extended RM1,700 to those small employers from 1 August 2025, so there is no remaining exemption by employer size. STATUTORY EXCLUSION: para 2 - the Order does NOT apply to domestic servants as defined in s.2(1) of the Employment Act 1955 [Act 265], s.2(1) of the Sabah Labour Ordinance [Cap. 67] and s.2(1) of the Sarawak Labour Ordinance [Cap. 76]. Minimum wage means BASIC wage only; allowances, bonuses, commission, overtime and benefits in kind cannot be counted toward it. Para 6 revokes the Minimum Wages Order 2022 [P.U. (A) 140/2022]. No superseding order had been gazetted as at 2026-07-20 and the rate is unchanged in 2026; the National Wages Consultative Council reviews the floor at least once every two years under s.25 of Act 732, so the next order is expected to bite in 2027. ACCESS QUIRK: the gazette PDF is bilingual (Bahasa Malaysia first at pp.2-5, English from p.6). minimumwages.mohr.gov.my and www.mohr.gov.my both refused TCP connections from outside Malaysia on 2026-07-20; gajiminimum.mohr.gov.my served the same P.U. (A) 376 PDF and lom.agc.gov.my confirmed the instrument's title and principal status.
