What this value means

Law No. 17 of 2020 sets a minimum BASIC wage of QAR 1,000/month, PLUS QAR 300/month for food and QAR 500/month for housing where the employer does not already provide adequate food and/or accommodation in kind. A worker given neither in kind must therefore receive at least QAR 1,800/month; a worker housed and fed by the employer must still receive the QAR 1,000 basic. Enacted August 2020 (Official Gazette No. 14 of 2020), effective 20 March 2021 after a six-month transition. It is genuinely non-discriminatory — it applies to all workers including migrant and domestic workers, the first such wage floor in the GCC. The law provides for periodic review by a tripartite Minimum Wage Committee, but NO revised figures have been enacted since 2021; the 1,000/300/500 levels remain the statutory floor at confirmation. Official ADLSA/GCO statement pages (gco.gov.qa) returned HTTP 403 from this location; the figures and effective date are taken from the ILO NATLEX record of the law and corroborated by the Qatar Embassy's own announcement (manila.embassy.qa). Verify against ADLSA when its site is reachable; watch for a first uplift, which would be the next update.
