The largest contributor was the Transport group at 2.8% y/y (May: 3.8%), with Insurance & Financial Services accelerating to 5.7% (May: 4.9%); Personal Care, Social Protection & Miscellaneous slowed to 3.4% (May: 4.8%) and Education to 2.1% (May: 2.2%). Second-quarter 2026 inflation averaged 1.9% against 1.6% in Q1 2026. Seven states exceeded the national rate: Pahang 2.6%, Johor 2.5%, Negeri Sembilan 2.5%, WP Labuan 2.3%, WP Kuala Lumpur 2.2%, Kedah 2.0%, WP Putrajaya 2.0%. Next release 17 August 2026 (July 2026 data); DOSM publishes CPI around the 17th-19th of the following month. This series carries HEADLINE inflation, not the core measure (core excludes fresh food and administered-price items; BNM's 9 July 2026 Monetary Policy Statement put Jan-May 2026 averages at 1.7% headline and 2.1% core) and not the BNM forecast range of 1.5-2.5% for 2026. INTERNAL CONSISTENCY CHECK PASSED: every y/y print in this series reconciles to the index levels quoted in its own row (137.1/134.5 = 1.93; 137.1/134.4 = 2.01; 136.9/134.3 = 1.94; 136.4/134.1 = 1.72; 136.0/134.1 = 1.42; 135.7/133.6 = 1.57), and the Q1/Q2 averages reconcile to the monthly prints. ACCESS QUIRK: the dosm.gov.my TLS chain fails intermediate-certificate verification in some clients ('unable to verify the first certificate') while curl and browsers accept it. Release slugs are irregular and unguessable - June 2026 is '.../consumer-price-index-june2026' but February is '.../consumer-price-index-feb2026', March '.../consumer-price-index-mar2026' and January '.../consumer-price-index-january-2026'; a wrong slug returns HTTP 200 with a raw SQLSTATE[HY000] MySQL error page rather than a 404, so status codes cannot be used to validate a URL. Transport slowed sharply to 1.4% (June: 2.8%) and Insurance & Financial Services collapsed to 1.1% (June: 5.7%); seven states exceeded the national rate: Negeri Sembilan 2.5%, Kedah 2.3%, Pahang 2.3%, WP Kuala Lumpur 2.2%, Johor 2.1%, WP Labuan 2.0%, Sabah 1.9%. Next release 18 September 2026 (August 2026 data). Slug gotcha confirmed again: July is '.../consumer-price-index-july-2026' (hyphenated, unlike June's 'june2026'); both 'july2026' and 'jul2026' return HTTP 200 pages containing 'SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1525 Incorrect DATE value' instead of a 404.
