What this value means
Latest official month is JUNE 2026: general CPI +2.8% year-on-year, released by NCSI on 12 July 2026 as the 'Consumer Price Inflation Report: June 2026'; the same 2.8% figure is displayed on the NCSI portal front page (https://www.ncsi.gov.om/). Average inflation for January-June 2026 was also 2.8%. Composition in June 2026: food and non-alcoholic beverages +6.1% (vegetables +23.6%, fruits +9.9%, meat +7.3%, milk/cheese/eggs +2.9%, fish -1.7%), miscellaneous goods and services +5.7%, transport +5.5%, restaurants and hotels +4.6%, furniture and household equipment +3.1%. By governorate, Al Dhahirah was highest at 3.5% and Al Sharqiyah North lowest at 1.9%. SERVED VALUE IS A RATE, NOT AN INDEX LEVEL: unlike some countries in this dataset, the value here is the year-on-year percentage change. NCSI's monthly release leads on the rate; the underlying index level (2018 = 100) is inside the PDF and on the national open-data portal, neither of which could be parsed from this location — the NCSI PDF is not machine-readable to this fetcher and data.gov.om returned HTTP 403. If an index level is needed, extract it from the NCSI PDF directly. CROSS-CHECK: the Central Bank of Oman's 'Review of Banking and Monetary Developments – May 2026' independently reports CPI inflation of 2.8% year-on-year, consistent with NCSI. Next release: July 2026 CPI, expected mid-August 2026.
