Oman public holidays
Oman's official public holidays for calendar year 2026, applying to units of the State's administrative apparatus, other public legal persons and private-sector establishments. The catalogue of holidays is fixed by Royal Decree No. 88/2022 (as amended by Royal Decree No. 15/2025); the Gregorian dates for each year are announced by the Ministry of Labour under a Council of Ministers policy, adopted for 2026, of publishing the calendar in advance — except the two Eids, whose dates follow the declarations of the Main Committee for Determining the Beginning of Hijri Months (moon sighting).

What this value means
TWO CORRECTIONS TO THE BRIEF. (1) NATIONAL DAY IS NOT 18 NOVEMBER. Royal Decree No. 15/2025, issued 21 January 2025, amended Royal Decree No. 88/2022 so that 'the National Day of the Sultanate of Oman' falls on 20 AND 21 NOVEMBER — a two-day holiday — replacing the historic 18 November date (Sultan Qaboos's birthday). See the Ministry of Information's official holidays page (https://www.omaninfo.om/en/pages/161/show/939), which lists National Day as November 20-21, and Oman Observer's report of the decree (https://www.omanobserver.om/article/1165158/oman/his-majesty/hm-issues-royal-decree-regarding-national-day-holidays). For 2026 the statutory 20-21 November falls on Friday and Saturday (Oman's weekend), and the announced observed holiday is Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 November 2026. (2) RENAISSANCE DAY IS NO LONGER A PUBLIC HOLIDAY. The 23 July Renaissance Day holiday (marking Sultan Qaboos's 1970 accession) was abolished by Royal Decree in April 2020 and does not appear in the Royal Decree 88/2022 list; it was superseded by 'the day His Majesty the Sultan assumed power' — Sultan Haitham bin Tarik's accession on 11 January 2020 — which is the national holiday now observed. Do NOT serve Renaissance Day. The Royal Decree 88/2022 catalogue is: Hijri New Year (1 Muharram); Prophet's Birthday (12 Rabi' al-Awwal); Al Isra' wal Mi'raj (27 Rajab); Eid al-Fitr (29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal); Eid al-Adha (9 to 12 Dhu al-Hijjah); National Day (20-21 November); and the day His Majesty assumed power. There is no New Year's Day, Labour Day or Christmas public holiday in Oman. The decree also provides that where a holiday coincides with the weekly rest day a substitute day is granted, and that dates may be adjusted if the public interest requires — which is why several 2026 observed dates sit off their nominal Hijri/Gregorian anchors (Accession Day observed Thu 15 Jan rather than Sun 11 Jan; Isra' wal Mi'raj observed Sun 18 Jan for 27 Rajab 1447 which fell on Fri 16 Jan). EID DATES ARE CONFIRMED, NOT FORECAST: both 2026 Eids are already past at confirmation. Eid al-Fitr was announced by the Ministry of Labour for Thursday 19 March to Monday 23 March 2026 with work resuming Tuesday 24 March; Eid al-Adha was announced from Tuesday 26 May (9 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447) to Saturday 30 May 2026, resuming Sunday 31 May (Oman Observer, https://www.omanobserver.om/article/1189816/oman/community/eid-al-adha-holidays-announced-in-oman). The dates array carries the first day of each holiday; multi-day spans are stated in the name field. ACCESS NOTE: omaninfo.om carries the standing decree list but not the year's Gregorian dates; the Ministry of Labour publishes the annual calendar by circular reported through Oman News Agency and the Omani press rather than at a stable permalink.
