What this value means

MPS H1FY27 states verbatim: 'the policy rate will remain unchanged at 10.0 percent. The Standing Lending Facility (SLF) rate will remain at 11.5 percent and the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) rate will be 7.5 percent'. The corridor is therefore 7.5% (floor, SDF) - 10.0% (repo) - 11.5% (ceiling, SLF); the SDF was cut 50bp to 7.5% in the January-June 2026 MPS while the repo was held. The same document twice states BB has kept the policy rate 'unchanged at 10 percent since October 2024', following 11 consecutive hikes between May 2022 and October 2024. effective_from is set to 2024-10-27, the announced effective date of the final 50bp hike (9.50% -> 10.00%) made by MPD Circular No. 05 of 2024; that circular's PDF could NOT be retrieved - bb.org.bd returns HTTP 200 with the site's HTML shell for every non-existent /mediaroom/circulars/mpd/*.pdf path (soft-404), so guessed circular filenames cannot be distinguished from real ones. The primary source cited here confirms the rate and the month ('since October 2024') but not the day. Separately, the statutory Bank Rate (a legacy discount rate, not the operational policy rate) has been 4.00% throughout 2024-2026 per BB's Interest Rate econdata table - do not confuse the two. ACCESS: bb.org.bd sits behind a WAF that intermittently refuses plain curl/TLS clients (connection reset, exit 56) and serves the HTML shell instead of PDFs without a browser User-Agent; the MPS PDF was successfully retrieved and text-extracted on 2026-07-20 via a browser-like fetch.
