What this value means
Statutory basis, verbatim from Law 2429: Madde 1 — 29 Ekim is the Ulusal Bayram and 'Bayram 28 Ekim günü saat 13.00'ten itibaren başlar ve 29 Ekim günü devam eder' (so 28 Oct is a HALF day from 13:00, 29 Oct a full day = 1.5 days). Madde 2(A) resmî bayram günleri: 23 Nisan, 19 Mayıs, 30 Ağustos (one day each). Madde 2(B) dini bayramlar: Ramazan Bayramı is 3.5 days starting 13:00 on the arefe day; Kurban Bayramı is 4.5 days starting 13:00 on the arefe day. Madde 2(C) (as amended by Law 6752 of 25/10/2016): 1 Ocak yılbaşı, 1 Mayıs Emek ve Dayanışma Günü, 15 Temmuz Demokrasi ve Millî Birlik Günü. Madde 2 also provides that where a national/general holiday ends on a Friday evening the whole of the following Saturday is a holiday, and that private workplaces MUST close on 29 Ekim. 2026 RELIGIOUS DATES (Diyanet, hicri 1447): Ramazan başlangıcı 19 Şubat 2026; Arefe 19 Mart (Thu); Ramazan Bayramı 20 (Fri) / 21 (Sat) / 22 (Sun) Mart 2026. Kurban: Arefe 26 Mayıs (Tue); Kurban Bayramı 27 (Wed) / 28 (Thu) / 29 (Fri) / 30 (Mayıs, Sat) 2026. These are Diyanet's astronomically calculated dates published a year ahead and used for the official Turkish holiday calendar — they are NOT subject to moon-sighting revision in Türkiye, but they can differ by a day from Saudi/other national Eid dates. The three half-days (19 Mar, 26 May, 28 Oct) are included as entries because Turkish payroll and banking treat the afternoon as a holiday; consumers who need full days only should drop them. 2026 weekend collisions with no substitute day (Türkiye has NO 'bank holiday in lieu' rule): 21-22 Mar (Sat/Sun), 30 May (Sat), 30 Ağustos (Sun). Government-declared BRIDGE days (idari izin) — e.g. extending a bayram across an intervening working day — are announced ad hoc by Cumhurbaşkanlığı genelge and are NOT part of Law 2429; none is included here. Work on a genel tatil day is paid at double rate under Article 47 of İş Kanunu 4857 unless the employment contract provides otherwise.
