Jordan's national monthly minimum wage, fixed by decision of the Tripartite Committee for Labour Affairs (اللجنة الثلاثية لشؤون العمل) chaired by the Minister of Labour and comprising the Government, the employers' side (Jordan Chamber of Industry, Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Jordanian Farmers Union) and the workers' side (General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions), under the Labour Law No. 8 of 1996 and its amendments. The decision is published in the Official Gazette and enforced by both the Ministry of Labour and the Social Security Corporation, which treats it as the floor of the insurable wage.

What this value means
A COMMON ASSUMPTION, CORRECTED: the current figure is JOD 290 per month, not 'around JOD 260'. JOD 260 was the level set for 2021 and it ran through 2024; the Tripartite Committee for Labour Affairs, chaired by Minister of Labour Dr Khaled Al-Bakkar, decided unanimously in December 2024 to raise it to JOD 290 (+11.5%, the largest single uplift in Jordan's history), effective 1 January 2025. The decision is explicitly a THREE-YEAR settlement covering 2025, 2026 and 2027 — the SSC statement says 'للأعوام (2025-2026-2027)' — so no change is due before 1 January 2028 and 290 is the correct figure for 2026. WHO IS COVERED: all workers subject to Labour Law No. 8 of 1996 and its amendments, 'regardless of the manner in which their wages are paid' — the SSC confirms it applies to workers paid daily, weekly, hourly or by any other period, who are then subject to social-security contributions on that floor. WHO IS EXCLUDED (this answers the migrant/domestic-worker question directly, and it is a real carve-out, not an oversight): the SSC statement records two exclusions written into the Tripartite Committee's decision — (1) workers in GARMENT/CLOTHING sector companies and establishments, who are excluded because their wage floor is set by the sectoral collective bargaining agreement rather than by this decision (press reporting puts that sectoral floor at JOD 230, which is NOT served here as it is not confirmed from a primary source); and (2) NON-JORDANIAN domestic workers, and their cooks, gardeners 'and those in like positions'. Note the precise shape of exclusion (2): it is drawn on NATIONALITY within domestic work — Jordanian domestic workers are covered by the JOD 290 floor, non-Jordanian ones are not. Migrant workers OUTSIDE domestic service and outside the garment sector are covered on the same terms as Jordanians. Jordan Labour Watch (Phenix Center) publicly criticised both carve-outs as discriminatory. ACCESS PROBLEM: mol.gov.jo (Ministry of Labour), which carries the Committee's own announcement '"الثلاثية" ترفع الحد الأدنى للأجور إلى 290 ديناراً اعتباراً من بداية عام 2025', returns ECONNREFUSED from this location, as does the Petra archive URL for the same story; the Social Security Corporation site IS reachable and is used as the source of record. The SSC page footer showed a site last-modified date of 2026/07/21, i.e. the page is live and maintained. WATCH FOR: a Tripartite Committee decision in late 2027 setting the 2028 floor, and any decision extending coverage to non-Jordanian domestic workers.
